RESEARCH

My research focuses on the intersection of political economy and public policy. I study state capacity, state-business relations, and their role on environmental and industrial policy.

TEACHING

I teach courses in public management, public policy, and political economy.

PROJECTS

My current research projects are focused on lithium policies in Latin America and the capacity of local governments to address environmental challenges.

ABOUT ME

Dr. Sebastián Carrasco is an Assistant Professor at the School of Government, Universidad San Sebastián (Chile), and an Associate Researcher with the Max Planck Partner Group DECREVER. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Universidad Católica de Temuco and a Visiting Researcher at both the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and the Free University of Berlin (Germany). He holds a PhD in Public Policy, an MA in Political Science, and a BA in Public Administration.

His research interests include comparative political economy, public policy analysis, and public management. Specifically, he studies industrial and environmental policies, state-business relations, subnational public management, and state capacity. His work has been published in Competition & Change, The Extractive Industries and Society and Revista de Administração Pública, among others.
